New Orleans is an American city like no other. The cultural influences that came by way of Haiti, France and Africa have made this city a unique melting pot. In the West the Haitian practice of Jaliyaa or voodou can have a negative connotation but in reality it is a healing art of the highest degree. Congo Square is a place in New Orleans where this culture was celebrated with dancing and drum circles on hot, humid Southern evenings.
